Cheap Kitchens: The Worst Investment You Can Ever Make

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

Are you looking for a new kitchen at a low price? If so, you’ll likely be tempted by the many cheap kitchens on offer. But as with anything that seems too good to be true, there is usually a catch - if something is cheap, it must not be of good quality and, therefore, won’t last. In most cases, the saying “You get what you pay for” is 100% true.

It can be frustrating when sellers advertise something comparably cheap without explaining the “Why?”. There are usually two main reasons why any product is considered cheap – it’s either poor quality or being sold at a discounted price. And when it comes to buying a kitchen, the cheaper it is, in our experience, the shorter it lasts, maintaining the same good look for years ahead.

Another thing to consider is how long a cheap kitchen will last. Many people think a cheap kitchen is a quick fix and will last just long enough for them to get by until they can replace it with a better one. However, you should remember that cheaper materials will break more easily and need replacing sooner than usual. The general rule is that if something seems too cheap to be true, it probably is. A cheap kitchen will probably be poorly constructed and will break down sooner than you might expect.

Next, you must consider what is actually included in the “cheap”. For example, a cheap kitchen may come with cheap fittings and fixtures, cheap (and sometimes unbranded) appliances, and cheap materials.

• Cheap Fittings and fixtures: Don’t assume that all kitchens have a “standard” set of fittings and fixtures. If a cheap kitchen comes with cheap fixtures, you may find yourself having to spend extra money on them.

• Cheap Materials: Finally, you should always check what type of materials are used in the manufacturing of your kitchen. Has the manufacturer had all the necessary certifications and followed the best industry standards?

• How long is the warranty on a kitchen after it’s been sold to you?

As you can see, buying a cheap kitchen has several drawbacks. It is essential to understand that kitchen brands are like car brands – they all have different levels of quality. When choosing a kitchen, you need to decide how long you want it to last and whether it is worth spending more on a better quality product that will last longer and make you feel proud when someone visits your house.

A cheap kitchen may seem like a good option when you’re starting out and have a tight budget, but you will definitely lose big time in the long run.
